This positionis an hourly position working various schedules and is part of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers Local # 262-G.Job Summary:The warehouse Electrician/Instrument Technician will maintain and do new installation of electrical and instrumentation systems in and around the warehouse.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to install all trade sizes of conduit required for electrical and instrumentation wiring, making sure it is right size and correct configuration for the application, this including but not limited to: measuring and cutting, carrying, bending, threading and hanging in place.
  • Pull wire for electrical or instrument requirements, making sure the wire is the correct size and proper number of conductors, including but not limited to: measuring, cutting carrying and lubricating as necessary.
  • Must be able to use hand tools such as, but not limited to, screw drivers, wrenches, sockets sets, pipe wrenches, hammers, and taps to install various electrical and instrument devices, at time's requiring torque to make sure screws or connectors and tight using electrical and instrumentation specific tools, gauges and devices.
  • Install, replace or repair electric motors, from fractional to multiples of hundred horsepower, at times having to lift, push or pry to get motors in place or align them.
  • Must be able to trouble shoot electrical circuits to find problem and get equipment back on line.
  • Must be able to use tools such as, but not limited to, electric drills, surface grinders, hammer drills, all types of conduit benders, and wire pullers in the course of doing the job.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner, paying special attention to lock out tag out procedures.
  • Use computers and logic as troubleshooting devises.
  • Work with mechanical crew as needed.
  • Must exercise good housekeeping practices.
  • Must demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Any other work assigned by management.
  • Repetitive lifting or carrying items up to 40-50 lbs.
  • Repetitive lifting above 50 pounds shall be accomplished with the assistance of another employee or the use of a mechanical lifting device.
Position Qualifications:
  • State of Michigan Journeyman or Masters License
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess a valid Michigan Driver's License.
  • Maintain license/certification through continuing education.
  • Industrial, mechanical or maintenance background (i.e. electrical, machining or welding) and other related experience.
  • Must complete all aspects of Michigan Sugar Company's' Electrical/Instrument Apprenticeship program complete certificates of approved Electrical Trades Educational Program and Approved Instrumentation Instruction.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Perform tasks requiring heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and bending.
  • Must be able to program PLC's and VFD's.
  • Must be able to read electrical and instrumentation prints and understand ladder logic.
  • Have knowledge of networking and system boot-up.
  • Understand power grid and use of power transformers.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of how to safely and effectively use the tools needed for maintenance and repairs.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge of how to safely preform work in explosive dust areas and while running all of the equipment.
  • Understand Preventative Maintenance procedures.
