Overview
Warehouse Forklift Operator is responsible for operating and driving electric powered industrial truck equipment. Additional activities include, but are not limited to, pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, processing shipments, locating inbound materials, cycle counting, and staging finished product by utilizing common tools and handling techniques such as forklifts, hand trucks, and pallet jacks while utilizing standard picking and staging methods.
Responsibilities
Operates and drives gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices, such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel-hook, fork-grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, storage yard, or factory
Delivers material to production areas in a timely manner to ensure that production standards are maintained
Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders
Verify “bill of lading” on product tags
Loads materials, installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent damage while in transit
Safely moves, loads, and unloads product to and from pallet racks
Delivers product to the correct storage bays or bins, following inventory control instructions
Reads orders and/or follows oral instructions to meet scheduled activities as directed
Receive materials and verify against packing lists to ensure the accuracy of the delivery
Assist in physical inventories
Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; making operator repairs, completes daily forklift maintenance/check sheet
Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials, and transports load to designated area
Puts away palletized units by raising forks for placement into four or five high racks
Picks palletized units out of four or five high rack locations and stages for outbound shipment
Follows CBPS safety practices and procedures and contributes to a positive CBPS safety culture
May be additionally required to perform the following job related duties:
Handle hazardous materials
Trash consolidation and removal
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
Fills requisitions, work orders or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes accordingly
Posts weights and shipping charges and affixes postage
Marks materials with identifying information
Maintain scanner quality (i.e. cleaning lens, reporting mechanical failures)
Maintain required levels of quality and rates of Log in/out boxes for scanning
Record objective and bibliographic information as appears on documents
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 1 year of forklift experience
Experienced operating power tool equipment including but not limited to cherry picker, reach truck, pallet jack, etc.
Previous experience with material handling is required
Must know how to properly operate a forklift
Working knowledge of scanning equipment, internal database tracking system, dollies and carts
Must successfully pass all CBPS Safety Training and equipment handling procedures
Basic computer skills
Physical Demands
Must be capable of standing and/or walking for extended periods.
Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, crouch, squat and reach above shoulder level on a frequent basis.
May lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Mental qualifications include the ability to safely operate power tool equipment including a forklift, and to follow all CBPS and regulatory processes.
Must wear personal protective equipment as required for the job.
Must know how to properly handle hazardous materials. Maintains safe, clean and orderly work environment at all times.
Comply with all OSHA and MSDS standards.
