JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Purpose: To assist in the operation of the Maintenance & Operations warehouse including receiving, storing, issuing and delivering equipment, tools, and supplies and maintaining inventory control.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Responsibilities and Duties

* Receive/unload freight from trucks and ensure accuracy in counting and checking for damage.

* Contact vendors regarding errors and damaged goods.

* Assist M&O Buyer/Inventory Control Supervisor with picking up and delivering materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.

* Assist M&O Buyer/Inventory Control Supervisor with taking and maintaining inventory of materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.

* Assist M&O Buyer/Inventory Control Supervisor with marking and tracking tools and equipment.

* Pick up, deliver, and distribute materials, equipment, tools, and supplies during and after normal business hours.

* Receive warehouse stock and assist in stocking shelves according to established inventory systems and procedures.

* Enter invoices/packing slips into inventory system.

* Assist in maintaining inventory control including checking in, labeling, and restocking inventory.

* Attend training classes and seminars as directed.

* Correct unsafe conditions that may exist in the work area that could cause an accident. Any conditions that are not correctable by you are to be reported to the supervisor immediately.

* Know and practice the proper safety procedures in operating machinery and equipment as required for the job.

* Know and practice safety techniques in lifting, climbing, and performing other job duties

* Attendance at work is an essential function.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Experience:

* Experience in related field

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification:

* High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred

* Valid Texas Driver's License

* Eligible for coverage under the District's vehicle insurance program

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Ability to work well with people

* Ability to read and understand instructions for Maintenance & Operations safety procedures

* Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems

* Ability to use a computer and other electronic devices

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

* Analytical and problem-solving abilities

* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

* Ability to operate hand tools

* Ability to work independently

* Ability to use Microsoft Excel/Word

OTHER INFORMATION:

Equipment Used: Motor vehicle, forklift, pallet jack, computer, 10-key calculator, office equipment, dollies, carts, and ladders. Working Conditions: Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and more), standing, walking, kneeling, repeated bending, climbing, pushing, use of fingers, reaching above shoulders, operation of motor vehicles, outside/inside work, excessive hot and cold temperatures, excessive humidity and dampness; exposure to excessive noise, exposure to dust, fumes, smoke and gas, exposure to solvents/paints, grease and oil; works around machinery with moving parts, works around moving objects and vehicles; works on ladders and scaffolding.
