** Warehouse Laborer- Warehouse Operations**

Requisition ID: 16510 ****Job Summary****

This position will provide general warehouse services to campus customers; including moving and storage of furniture/equipment; disposing of scrap; cleaning of warehouse and maintaining equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

**Mailroom - Shipping/Receiving Department**

* Provide back-up coverage for all functions of Mailroom - Shipping Receiving Clerks

* Scan packages in/out to ensure accuracy of delivery.

* Download information from the scanner to verify/track the proper delivery of all packages.

* Prep, organize, sort, and deliver any packages remaining after performing AM mail delivery.

* Prep and deliver USPS, intercampus mail, and Printing Services materials

**Warehouse Operations Department**

* Operate box trucks, pick-up trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, dollys, and hoists to lift and move materials.

* Move furniture, appliances, lab/ shop equipment, supplies, salvage materials, and computer salvage components to and from various locations around campus.

* Organize warehouse space, usage, and storage as directed by Warehouse Operations Manager.

* Receive and sign the bill of ladings, packing lists, and all documents related to receipt of deliveries.

* Compile contact lists of names and phone numbers to assist the business manager in rental charges for long and short-term storage.

* Assist customers in selection and procurement of salvage stock; deliver purchases to various sites around campus.

* Organize and clean warehouse, dock, and hallways in departmental storage areas.

* Help determine the best method to move and replace furniture and equipment safely. Ensure protection of surfaces, doors, and frames.

* Estimate weight loads that can be safely transported on elevators and other equipment within weight limits determined by

* postings on each piece of equipment.

* Ensure all loads are properly tied down for shipment using tie-downs, straps, chains, cables, ropes, etc., and use furniture

* blankets to ensure limited damage to surfaces.

* Evaluate salvage materials for scrap, recycling, trash, or removal to storage for future use by departments. Remove and

* dispose of debris, trash, and salvage scrap from moving and work areas according to University, departmental, REM, and

* OSHA regulations.

* Palletize items for storage (if needed) to assist in the general cleanliness of the storage area and shelving.

* Inspect loads for damage before and after moves, and inform the supervisor immediately if damage has occurred.

* Wrap items with protective plastic to keep them clean and keep items separate from other stored items.

* Ensure equipment is clean and maintained.

****Required****

* High school diploma/GED required.

* Must have valid drivers license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy.

* Ability to move up to 100 pounds on a regular basis required.

* Must be able to become certified to operate a forklift.

* One year experience driving a one ton or larger truck required.

**Preferred**

* Warehousing and/or material handling experience
