Warehouse Material Handler
Boston Metal is commercializing cutting edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize primary metals production, while decreasing cost and lowering environmental impact. This fast-paced startup company is looking for an organized, people-oriented, resilient, deadline-driven, tech-savvy Compliance Manager.
The ideal candidate will report to the Senior Supply Chain Specialist and be responsible for all receiving and inspections of inbound materials as well as processing and tracking outbound shipments of products and materials.
You will also be responsible for the area organization and maintenance of the warehouse as well as enforcing all necessary safety processes and procedures required for a safe warehouse operation.
Responsibilities:
- Willingness to work 2nd shift, from 3pm to 11 pm.
- Follow implemented standard operating procedures (SOP) to contribute to achieving operational excellence.
- Physically and virtually receive goods, inspect parts and materials, when they arrive. Validate the accuracy and quality of each inbound order received and then notify relevant parties of the arrival and current condition of each order.
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
- Assist with inventory control and assist in streamlining the processes to receive, add, update the inventory, and support monthly inventory cycle counting to align on hand inventory with ERP system.
- Process the outbound shipment of parts, materials, and packages on behalf of Boston Metal in the timeliest, most cost-effective manner.
- Contributes to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area.
- Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
- Follow the proper implementation of EHS/5S standards to maintain a clean facility, including floor cleaning, dock door maintenance, general warehouse cleanliness and organization of warehouse.
- Enforce warehouse safety standards as it relates to general warehouse safety and forklift safety policies.
- Utilize a forklift and pallet jack for moving pallets of material regularly throughout the warehouse.
- Ability to drive and safely operate a 26ft box truck or an electric van for local transportation of parts and materials as needed. Candidate will be required to pass a DOT Physical. A 26ft box truck does not require a CDL, but cannot exceed a 10,000lb load.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office, and ERP system as well (preferable).
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse operations experience.
- Have 2+ of experience driving forklifts and possess a forklift certification by the State of MA or willing to be certified upon start.
- Have experience using scanning devices.
- Adaptable and willingness to work in a quickly changing environment.
- Experience working in a warehouse setting assisting with receiving parts, materials, and packages.
- Prior responsibility for warehouse organization, 5S, building maintenance and cleanliness.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Demands:
- The employee must be able to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required by the specific work activity which may include: N95 mask or respirator; various types of gloves/hand protection; safety shoes; head protection; and protective clothing.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop or crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee has potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or hazardous waste, and occasional exposure to moving equipment, the risks of which are minimized through compliance with established use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety policies and procedures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
You will be working in a small team environment where teamwork and good relationships with other team members is critical. We operate pilot plants and labs and many of our staff members are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and you should be prepared to do so as well when necessary.
