Candidates with less experience and/or fewer qualifications may start at the lower end of the pay band, while those with more experience and/or higher qualifications may be offered a salary at the higher end of the pay band.Position SummaryThe Material Handler is responsible for accurately and efficiently handling, moving, loading, and unloading materials within the warehouse or production facility. This role involves operating various types of equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring that materials are properly stored and distributed to support production and shipping operations. The Material Handler is crucial in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.Essential DutiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:Receiving and Unloading:
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against shipping documents.
- Unload materials from trucks or containers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
- Inspect materials for any damage or discrepancies and report issues to the supervisor.
Material Storage:
- Organize and store materials in designated areas within the warehouse or production facility.
- Ensure materials are stored safely and in compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of stored materials and update inventory management systems.
Inventory Management:
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Track and document material movements within the facility.
- Assist in the implementation of inventory control procedures to optimize stock levels.
Material Distribution:
- Distribute materials to production lines or workstations as required.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production schedules.
- Prepare materials for shipping, including packing, labeling, and documentation.
Equipment Operation:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and other safety standards.
- Participate in safety training and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and transactions.
- Prepare reports on inventory status, material usage, and other relevant metrics.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding material handling activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a material handler or in a similar role.
- Certification to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment is preferred.
- Basic math and computer skills for inventory management and record-keeping.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.

- Work is performed in a warehouse or production facility environment.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise, and dust.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, push 800 pounds on a load-bearing cart, carry 25 pounds, and pull 200 pounds.
- Must be able to use hand tools, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
- It requires frequent standing, walking, crouching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and using repetitive motions of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands for extended periods.
