The director's responsibilities include, but not limited to, overseeing receiving, warehousing, shipping, and distribution operations. The purpose of this role is to manage, direct, and oversee all business concerns, as it relates to inbound and outbound shipment, equipment maintenance and repair, transportation, personnel and budget management, cost, and operating efficiencies control. This position also develops standards, metrics, and procedures that maximize inventory management efficiency.
  • Manages daily Warehouse team by confirming, delegating, coordinating, and informing the crew of the processing of orders
  • Ensures all quality specifications are followed and issues corrective actions on the non-conforming product.
  • Effectively communicate company, plant, and department priorities across all levels
  • Communicates any issues during the shift, across all levels, as appropriate (e.g., production orders, safety hazards, etc.)
  • Enforces company, plant, and departmental policies and procedures and work instructions including but not limited to safety policies, GMPs, HACCP standards, and AIB standards.
  • Hires, trains, counsels, monitor work, assign work, disciplines, and terminates employees.
  • Orientation for new employees and trains on department-related activities.
  • Provides feedback at regular intervals to team members & conducts performance evaluations of assigned team members.
  • Identifies training and developmental needs necessary and conducts required training for the assigned employee group.
  • Appropriately handles employee concerns and complaints.
  • Conducts pre-shift and shift-change meetings with appropriate team members to communicate issues, concerns, and information.
  • Performs walkthroughs of production and warehouse areas with leads, focusing on equipment performance, product quality, housekeeping, safety, and food safety.
  • Schedules team to meet production goals, including approving and scheduling team member vacations
  • Maintains schedules, and timecards, and prepares all HR–related paperwork.
  • Maintains teamwork, consistency, and fairness among all employees to foster a positive work environment within the department, plant, and entire organization.
  • Ensures all food safety principles, legal requirements, and operational processes have been applied effectively to include education, knowledge, awareness, and application.
  • Report any food safety and quality issues/problems to personnel with authority to initiate action
  • Lead the continuous warehouse improvement initiatives. Be alert to better, more cost-effective, and efficient ways of running the warehouse operation
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers' expectations
  • Be responsible for output, ensuring product quality and on-time shipping
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic, planning, and resource allocation
  • Build a trusting relationship with the workforce; manage and develop warehouse employees
  • Collect and analyze data to find redundancy, waste, and overtime issues
  • Commit to plant safety procedures
  • Address employees' issues or concerns
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Stay current with the latest warehouse management best practices and concepts
  • Must adhere to safety procedures and operations
  • Must be able to troubleshoot warehouse issues and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Develop work plans for emergency repair of critical assets
  • Collaborate effectively with Human Resources to ensure recruiting and staffing needs are met. Oversee job changes and promotions for internal candidates
  • Perform quality checks or equipment
  • Deep knowledge of industry and processes
  • Manages all aspects as it relates to Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), Forklifts, Riding Pallet Jacks and Electrical Pallet Jacks
  • Oversee product and equipment recalls and ensure recalls get processed
  • Works closely with auditors and is critical to the success of passing annual inventory audits
  • Manage the Inventory Control team
  • Ability to coach, develop, engage, and retain a team of employees
  • Ensure daily operations meet and exceed daily performance expectations
  • Oversee the product cycle counts and site inventory accuracy
  • Supervise, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day logistics operations
  • Other duties may be assigned and subject to change in accordance with business needs
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEOne year certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Warehouse Systems and Programs
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery, powered industrial truck (PIT) (1 -year minimum experience with sit-down forklift and electric pallet jack)
  • Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Ability and experience in successfully supervising and directing people and their work. Lead by example, jumping in when necessary to keep operation moving. Ability to motivate and lead employees
  • Ability and willingness to communicate routine and urgent processing issues and needs to Leadership. Escalate issues as appropriate and in a timely fashion to ensure information is shared effectively
  • Collaborative: ability to influence people in all roles, levels in the organization
  • Strong leadership, management, operational and analytical skills
  • Ability to think and act strategically with the capacity for growth in strategic thinking ability
  • Open and direct communicator; excellent verbal and written communication skills
