Job Summary: Expedite and route movement of incoming and outgoing cargo and freight shipments via airline, ocean, and trucking companies. Take orders from customers and arrange shipment of cargo. Prepare and examine shipping documents. Research rates, routings, or modes of transport for shipment of products. Prepare customs documentation to facilitate the import and export of goods. Determine duties and taxes. Coordinate transportation and storage of imported good.

Job Details:

  • Work Location: MSHS, 2022 Tamvest Court, Mandeville, LA
  • This position requires physical stamina, as candidates must be able to lift and move weights of 25 to 50 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Must have the ability to open shop location on short notice, if needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organize transportation activities, managing information accrued from point of origin to delivery, orchestrating transportation movements, and arranging for services as necessary
  • Provide advice on transportation options, types of carriers, or shipping routes. Inform clients of factors such as shipping options, timeline and cost options
  • Prepare shipping documentation, including air waybills, bills of lading, bill of lading instructions, delivery receipts, etc.
  • Coordinate and track movement of goods, keep clients updated and send them proof of deliveries
  • Execute logistics plan to move products and packages to reach destinations on schedule
  • Review freight rates and other transportation costs to keep working costs low
  • Maintains quality throughout the logistic processes
  • Prepare invoices or cost quotations for freight transportation in timely fashion
  • Pay or arrange for payment of incoming freight or other import related costs
  • Estimate freight costs and prepare quotes to customers.
  • Review invoices in Docuware, update freight DB and check costs and allocations for approval
  • Enter shipping docs into Docuware for all departments
  • Collect timesheets for drivers, remind them if necessary and prepare time sheets for approval before deadline
  • Prepare customs documentation and ensure that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods.
  • Classify goods according to tariff coding system.
  • Coordinate transportation and storage of imported goods.
  • Stay abreast of changes in import or export laws or regulations by reading current literature or conferring with colleagues.
  • Expedite clearing of cargo in other ports to expedite clearing of cargo

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors preferred
  • 1-3 years of related experience
