Location: Southern Mill - Athens, GA Job Family: SpecialistReports To: Sr Warehouse Manager Exemption: Non-ExemptPosition Purpose: The Warehouse Specialist supports CCBC by ensuring that all the inventory inside of the four walls of the production facility is present and accounted for and in peek condition. For raw materials, that process starts when product is unloaded and continues until it is put away. For finished goods, the process starts just when the raw materials are pulled from storage to staging and continues until the finished goods are leaving the facility for a distribution center. This is a swing shift position, Monday - Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm. Duties and Responsibilities1. Facilitate the Movement and Storage of Goods:
- Review the packaging schedule to determine the daily needs for raw packaging materials.
- Ensure the correct empty cans, cartons, trays, and kegs are brought to the appropriate staging area for each production run and returned afterward.
- Communicate with Packaging Leads and Leadership to replenish raw materials from the overflow warehouse as needed.
- Review the packaging schedule to manage finished goods, minimizing partial pallets by creating mixed partial pallets.
- Ensure all finished packaged goods (kegs and cases) are properly labeled, recorded, and stored in coolers.
- Review upcoming shipping orders to optimize storage locations for outbound flow.
- Adhere to FIFO standards to ensure older products are shipped before newer ones.
2. Manage Storage and Movement of Raw Materials and Finished Goods:
- Maintain storage and staging locations for raw materials and finished goods.
- Ensure peak freshness levels by following FIFO stock rotation practices.
- Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with receiving, storage, and shipping methods.
- Inspect warehouse and cooler areas twice daily for damaged or outdated products.
- Load and unload scheduled trailers efficiently.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts of materials in receiving, shipping, and staging areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts.
- Assist with periodic (at least monthly) physical inventory audits.
- Manage and maintain the inventory system, including upgrades to related databases and software.
- Keep precise daily records of goods received and shipments made.
- Check inbound and outbound shipments for condition, shortages, and discrepancies.
- Provide inventory reports to cross-functional teams and leadership.
- Analyze inventory reports and order patterns to identify items needing automatic, recurring delivery.
3. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and review documentation related to shipping and receiving functions.
- Verify packing lists, lot numbers, bills of lading, and purchase orders for accuracy.
- Cross-check receiving paperwork with goods received to ensure shipment accuracy.
- Ensure SAP software entries match physical goods removed or placed on trucks.
4. Operate Material Handling Equipment:
- Operate power lifts, hand trucks, carts, and other equipment for warehousing duties.
- Inspect the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment regularly (checking for damage, leaking fluids, wear, and battery levels).
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse area, practicing good housekeeping measures.
- Follow OSHA guidelines for lifting heavy objects, wearing protective equipment, and using safety equipment like forklifts to maintain a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in logistics or warehousing preferred.
- Forklift certification required
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, including inventory management and material handling.
- Proficiency in operating power lifts, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as required.
