Job Description The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive operations of the Smiths Detection warehouse (including but not limited to receiving, shipping, warehousing and inventory management). This role involves strategic planning, leadership of 15-20 union employees, and coordination of warehouse activities to meet company objectives. Sets objectives, goals, strategies and measures (KPIs) for continuous improvement. Duties & Responsibilities Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 15-20 Material Handlers and staff
  • Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations
  • Resolve employee issues and foster a positive work environment
Strategic Planning
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies to enhance warehouse operations
  • Collaborate with senior management to align warehouse goals with company objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and best practices
Advanced Inventory Management
  • Oversee complex inventory management systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Implement advanced inventory control measures and auditing processes
Safety and Compliance Management
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety policies and regulations
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety protocols and conduct regular safety audits and training sessions
Operational Excellence
  • Optimize warehouse layout and processes for maximum efficiency
  • Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies to streamline operations
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement
Financial Oversight
  • Manage warehouse budget and control costs, implementing cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety
  • Prepare financial reports and analyze cost-benefit scenarios
This role will work to identify and implement solutions to further company efficiencies and promote growth. The Warehouse Supervisor should possess strong business and technical acumen with highly effective team building skills. Must be an innovative and creative problem solver with an entrepreneurial approach who is results oriented and possesses a strong sense of urgency. Conducts research and stays up-to-date with best practices and industry trends to identify opportunities to create value for Smiths Detection Inc. Primary focus will be business continuity, improving and standardizing Inventory Control Programs, Cycle Count programs and Inventory Management systems while minimizing waste.Leads the development of a high performance work environment.Supervises a team of 15-20 Material Handlers who are members of the IUE/CWA Local 82109 union.   • BA/BS in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline
Experience:
  • 5+ years experience in Operations Leadership
  • Team building and supervision
  • Champion of Safety and Quality Standards
  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain preferred
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) experience preferred
  • WMS implementation leader preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
