SJS Industrial, a veteran owned media blasting, industrial painting, powder coating, and light fabrication shop in Virginia Beach, VA, that serves military and maritime customers, is seeking a full-time Warehouse to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Depending on workflow, the Material Handler may be asked to work a different shift or different hours. (with advance notice). Saturday or evening shifts might happen occasionally if there is a special project with a tight deadline, but the goal is a steady and reliable Monday through Friday 40-hour work week to avoid weekend, night-time, and overtime work The pay for this position is $16.50/hr. There is also 7 paid federal Holidays, 80/hrs accumulated PTO, 2 floating holidays, and we also offer Medical, Dental, vision insurance. He or she will be willing to learn how to work in a warehouse environment that is fast-paced, learn to handle various types of forklifts to ensure personal safety, will be at ease with working with others within a fast-paced team environment without compromising quality, and will exhibit conscientious workmanship to ensure components meet military and maritime industry acceptance standards. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with others within a fast-paced team environment and will exhibit conscientious and careful workmanship to ensure customer technical requirements are fulfilled. Responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the preparation and masking of surfaces of components prior to being coated.
- Safely operate various small hand tools and power tools such as pneumatic sanders, electric drills, and impact wrenches to assemble, disassemble and prepare jobs.
- Safely hang parts using appropriate methods on mobile racks in preparation for being coated.
- Must be able to remain on one's feet in an upright position and move about on their feet during the duration of the shift. Handlers will bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach at or above shoulder level on frequent occasion.
- Perform clean-up duties throughout your shift as required
- Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management
- Follow all written and verbal instructions
- Attend all safety and production training
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude
- Learn and understand the basics of proper grounding techniques when hanging parts to be coated.
- Learn and understand the project traveler documents fundamentals
- Perform clean-up duties throughout your shift as required
- Complete other production-related tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors, the Production Manager, or the Industrial Director.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Virginia's State Driver license.
- Forklift skills a plus.
- Must pass drug test and background check.
