Salary: $12.00 - $13.50 Hourly Location : New Hope, MN Job Type: Seasonal Department: Parks & Recreation Seasonals Opening Date: 09/13/2024 FLSA: Non-Exempt Bargaining Unit: N/A Description Warming House attendants provide leadership in offering a safe and positive environment for open ice skating held at the city parks' hockey rinks and free skating rinks. This is a seasonal job that is accountable to the Athletic Supervisor. Adaptable to changes in work schedule (due to inclement weather).   • Unlock and lock warming houses.
  • Supervise warming house and skating areas.
  • Maintain daily attendance reports.
  • Perform daily clean-up of warming house.
  • Maintain all related equipment and report any damage or loss to Athletic Supervisor.
  • Perform necessary first aid for participants who are injured, complete the Personal Injury Report and submit it to the your Supervisor.
  • Shovel snow and clear ice around doors when necessary.
  • Maintain positive public relations, and enthusiastically support the New Hope Parks and Recreation Department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Organizational Knowledge: Understand the department's guidelines for using the warming house and skating rinks.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Able to demonstrate tact and friendliness in communicating with a variety of personalities.
  • Work Planning/Time Management: Able to complete tasks in an organized and timely fashion and to arrive and leave work as scheduled.
  • Monitoring: Able to keep track of ice rink use in relation to the established guidelines.
  • Administrative: Able to keep accurate and detailed records of participation levels.
  • Flexibility: Adaptable to changes in work schedule (due to inclement weather).
  • Organizational Commitment: Willingness to accept department guidelines and policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally.
  • Ability to work well with public.
Minimum QualificationsSpecial Requirements
  • Ability to pass a BCA background check.
  • Must be at least 15 years of age; 16 years and older preferred.
Preferred Requirements
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Current Concussion certification.
Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location. Additional Information Seasonal positions are eligible for Earned Safe and Sick Time if 80 hours or more are worked in the season.
