Job Description:

Job Title: Warranty Repair Technician - Travel

Department: Customer Service & Warranty

Reports To: Department Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly - GRADE14

Summary: The primary role of a Warranty Repair Technician includes servicing/repair of Customer, Dealer, Demo, or factory-owned boats, including but not limited to gel coat, electrical, or mechanical issues. The repairs will be completed at the dealership. This position requires the skills to perform all repair methods, including extensive structural and metal flake repairs, in-depth diagnostics, and troubleshooting of electrical components and can troubleshoot mechanical systems, including engines. The secondary role will be a regularly assigned role within manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Checks in warranty returned boats and updates associated paperwork.

* Reviews issues list & confirms corrective action needed and agrees upon repair time with supervisor based on dealer flat rates.

* Documents and collects all parts necessary for repairs.

* Remains in contact with Cobalt Management while on field assignment

* Performs in depth diagnostic and troubleshooting on all aspects of Cobalt product.

* Lake tests boats as necessary and updates associated paperwork.

* Performs in-depth structural and gel repairs to include large lamination repairs & large metal flake sprays.

* Details/buffs boats after all work is complete.

* Review all repairs made with the supervisor for repair sign-off.

* Delivers all completed associated repair paperwork to manager.

* Logs daily progress of work performed per boat or when working for another department and on assigned tasks.

* Logs daily progress of work performed per boat to ensure compliance

* Logs daily hours (start time, finish time, etc.)

* Performs daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits on qualifying equipment as necessary to ensure compliance.

* Ensures supervisor is aware of any and all issues that might prevent work from being completed.

* Travels to boats (via company vehicle, airplane, etc.)

* Other responsibilities are assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three plus years of related experience and/or training. Must be willing to learn new repair techniques as needed.

Language Skills:

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications:

* Must have a good working knowledge of boat manufacturing and repair.

Physical Demands:

* Ability to walk upstairs and throughout a manufacturing facility to obtain information required to obtain information for consumers/dealers. Able to climb into and out of boats.

Work Environment:

Employee is exposed to ambient cold temperatures for short periods in winter months and is exposed to ambient heat temperatures in summer months. Some dust exposure when sanding large sprays. Airborne particulates from buffing/sanding fiberglass and/or gelcoat. Chemical exposure risk with gelcoat and catalyst.

Safety glasses are always required. Chemical-resistant gloves are required. Dust mask available upon request.

Typical 10-hour workdays, frequent overtime required as needed.
