JOB SUMMARY Transfer and treat hazardous waste in the waste treatment system ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transfer and treat wastewater.
- Operate/oversee/maintain wastewater treatment systems and hazardous waste storage areas.
- Maintain all associated paperwork/documentation.
- Collect, maintain and properly dispose of all waste/hazardous waste.
- Ensure proper labeling of hazardous waste (tanks and containers).
- Coordinate and complete chemical additions to the tanks as needed.
- Assist with any repairs that need to be made.
- Operate forklift to transport hazardous waste and chemicals.
- Ensure compliance with state & federal regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, OCSD, OC Health, DOT, DTSC, etc.)
- Adhere to safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous wastewater treatment experience and certifications preferred, but not mandatory.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
- Must have strong mathematical skills.
- Must have the ability to read and write instructions and correspondence.
- Must be highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Must have excellent time management skills.
- Must have the ability to work independently.
- Must be willing to work overtime/weekends (Sundays as needed); significant overtime may be required during busy periods.

- Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, you me required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to grab handles or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear.
- Must be able to lift and carry hoses, chemicals and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to clean the filter press and shovel hazardous waste into containers.
- Must obtain medical clearance to wear a respirator.
- Must have full range of motion with no restrictions in regards to lifting, twisting, or moving.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
