Job Summary
McKee Foods is seeking a Wastewater Technician to join our Maintenance team. The Wastewater Technician is responsible for maintaining the operating condition of the waste treatment plant equipment, performing laboratory tests to determine water quality and making equipment adjustments to maintain effluent wastewater quality within permit limits.
* Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes to ensure efficient operation.
* Collect wastewater samples for laboratory analysis to test for pollutants and compliance with regulations.
* Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on treatment equipment and machinery.
* Use gauges and meters to track the performance of treatment systems and identify any issues.
* Document operational data, maintenance activities, and test results for compliance and reporting.
* Follow local, state, and federal regulations related to wastewater treatment and environmental protection.
* Adhere to safety guidelines to minimize risks to personnel and the environment.
* Act quickly to address equipment failures or other urgent issues that may arise.
* Support regulatory inspections by providing necessary documentation and information.
* Engage in ongoing training to stay current with technology, regulations, and best practices in wastewater management.
* Manage and assist with onsite projects to maintain and improve the wastewater treatment facility
Required Qualifications
* Recipient of a Class 1 Wastewater Operator License
* Ability to conduct laboratory tests and interpret results
* Proficiency in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facility and related equipment
* Excellent interpersonal skills; team player with the willingness to work with others
* Demonstrate a high level of initiative; self-motivated
* Knowledge and proficiency with using computers
* Good safety, work & attendance record
* Good verbal & written communication skills
* Able to work flexible hours and extended shifts as needed
* Must comply with conditions established by Corporate Risk Management to operate Company vehicles
* Must be willing and able to work outdoors throughout the year in all temperature ranges and weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
* 10+ years working in a wastewater treatment facility
* Strong background in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities and equipment.
* Strong experience working with contractors to maintain wastewater facility operations
