Perform repairs and maintenance on mains, equipment, and components in the reclaimed water distribution and wastewater collections system. Principal Duties and Responsibilities This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. Perform maintenance and repairs to the wastewater collection system, to include but not limited to collection lines, manholes/covers, lift- stations, and force mains.Perform maintenance and repairs to the reuse water distribution system, to include but not limited to valves, lines, and may include pumping sites.Utilize proper tools and equipment to perform mechanical and physical repairs to the wastewater collection system and the reuse distribution system.Perform chemical dosing to the wastewater collection system for grease dispersion and root control.Respond to calls/requests that occur during normal work hours and after hours.Complete and submit paperwork related to work orders.Communicate with citizens while out in the field, or responding to calls/requests.Utilize the CCTV Televising equipment to conduct inspections of wastewater manholes and collection lines for various needed repairs, new construction pre-acceptance, and general inspections.Perform dye/smoke testing to ensure that service connections are legal, and system function are normal and within regulations.Perform grounds keeping duties as assigned, to include but not limited to mowing, weed eating, trash pickup and general yard maintenance duties.Perform grounds keeping duties as assigned, to include but not limited to mowing, weed eating, trash pickup and general yard maintenance duties.Perform other duties as may be assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work a flexible work and on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to perform basic computer functions as required by daily responsibilities
- Ability to understand and operate SCADA systems
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids:
- Hand tools, power tools, , hydro-cleaner, vacuum truck, backhoe, bobcat, excavator, crane truck, sewer televising unit, dump truck, piping, and other related wastewater equipment
- Gas detection equipment, confined space harness and lift, SCBA, hearing protection, eye protection, level A suit, safety boots, gloves, respirator, safety vest, hard hat
- Computer and related software pertaining to administrative and operational data entry
Education, Certification and Experiences
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent with one year of experience in a related field is preferred
- Possession of a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain within one year of employment
- Possession of a valid Class 1 Wastewater Collection license or obtain within one year of employment
- Must obtain a Class 2 Wastewater Collection license within two years of the date of issuance of a Class 1 Wastewater Collection license

- Longevity: With budget approval, employees earn $4.00 per month for each complete full month of continuous service. The employee must complete one full year of employment to be eligible. Maximum benefit is $1,200 annually.
- Voluntary Life Insurance: The employee may elect up to five times their base annual salary with a maximum of $250,000. Coverage for spouse and dependent children is also available for purchase. Terms apply.
- Voluntary AD&D: The employee may elect up to ten times their base annual salary with a maximum of $500,000. Terms apply.
- Voluntary Short-Term Disability: The employee may elect up to 60% of their base weekly salary with a maximum weekly benefit of $1,000. Terms apply.
- Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): This mandatory retirement plan requires each employee to contribute 7% of their gross salary to the plan and the City matches contributions 2 to 1. An employee becomes eligible to retire with 20 years of service or with five years of service at a minimum of age 60.
- Optional Deferred Compensation: The employee may contribute to a 457 plan through Mission Square Retirement.
- Social Security: Current rate is 6.2% for both employee and employer
- Medicare: Current rate is 1.45% for both employee and employer.
- Vacation - 12 days annually during first five years of employment (accrued monthly)
- Sick Leave - 12 days per calendar year (accrued monthly)
- Holidays - 12 holidays plus two floating day
