The class is responsible for monitoring wastewater treatment processes, adjusting chemical or physical processes, maintaining logs and records, and general plant and systems maintenance. The class works according to some procedures; decides how and when to do things under general supervision. Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices. Wastewater Operator B - $21.99 - $31.89 per hour The purpose of the class is to operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant according to the FDEP issued permits and report abnormal events. The class is responsible for monitoring wastewater treatment processes, adjusting chemical or physical processes, maintaining logs and records, and general plant and systems maintenance. The class works according to some procedures; decides how and when to do things under general supervision. Mentor and assist in training of lesser experienced Operations staff. Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices. Wastewater Operator A - $24.73 - $35.88 per hourThe purpose of the class is to operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant according to the FDEP issued permits and report abnormal events. The class is responsible for monitoring wastewater treatment processes, adjusting chemical or physical processes, maintaining logs and records, and general plant and systems maintenance. The class works according to some procedures; decides how and when to do things under general supervision. Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices. Essential Job Functions Wastewater Operator C
  • Monitors wastewater treatment processes including operation of chemical and physical processes.
  • Monitor and operates SCADA control systems.
  • Calibrates equipment, measures and records specific parameters.
  • Dispatch Service crews as required and coordinates job effort utilizing city radio system.
  • Adjusts chemical or physical processes to standards based on measurements and indications.
  • Generates daily operational reports.
  • Performs maintenance on wastewater treatment systems and plant equipment. Keeps plant facility clean and orderly.
  • Responds to complaints from public; resolves issues or refers to supervisor for resolution.
  • Orders chemicals or other supplies as necessary.
  • Maintains logs and records as required.
  • Performs routine office or plant tasks, such as typing, filing, faxing, phoning, copying, and maintaining logs and records.
Wastewater Operator B

Minimum Requirements The levels below require a high school diploma, GED, and formal training, special courses, or self-educated equivalent to satisfying completion of one year of college educated or specialized advanced training in the Wastewater field.Must live within a 20-mile radius of the city limits of Leesburg due to on-call rotation requirement.May mentor and assist in training of less experienced operations staff. Maintain compliance using experience and best management practices. Wastewater Operator C Requires 2080 hours of experience in wastewater treatment. Must possess a valid FDEP C license in Wastewater Plant Operations. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Special skills or equipment certification may be required. Wastewater Operator B Requires 6240 hours of experience in wastewater treatment. Must possess a valid FDEP B license in Wastewater. Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Special skills or equipment certification may be required. Wastewater Operator A Requires 10,400 hours of experience in wastewater treatment. Must possess a valid FDEP A license in Wastewater. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment. Special skills or equipment certification may be required.Health Insurance: Health Insurance is effective after 90 days of employment. Employees may elect a PPO or HMO plan. Provider is BCBS of Florida. Dental Insurance: Dental Insurance is effective after 90 days of employment. Employees may elect a PPO or HMO plan. Provider is United Health Care. Vision Insurance: Vision Insurance is effective after 90 days of employment. Provider is United Health Care. Employee Wellness Center: Free to employees, dependents, and retirees who are enrolled in the City's health insurance. The EWC provides free onsite Health Risk Assessments, doctor appointments, basic lab work, and some generic prescriptions. Retirement: A (401A) non-contributory defined contribution pension is provided for general employees. The City contributes 5%.Certified Police employees join the Chapter 185 Plan which requires employees contribute a predetermined percent into the plan. Certified Fire employees participate in a plan which exceeds the requirements of Chapter 175 and which requires employees contribute a predetermined percent into the plan. All employees may elect to tax defer an amount allowed by the IRS to a 457 deferred compensation account Life Insurance: $50,000.00 policy - 50% at age 70 for general employees, police and fire - 100% premium paid.Bereavement Leave: 24 hours of leave with pay.Holidays: 11 paid holidays. PTO Sell Back program: Employees are eligible to sell PTO time back to the City, a maximum of 2 times per fiscal year for a total of 160 hours. Employees can only sell back as much PTO time as they have actually used in the previous 12 months. Employees covered by a CBA may sell time a maximum established by their written bargaining agreement. Computer Purchase: The City will finance the employee's purchase of an approved computer system up to $1,000.00. Total of loan divided by 39 payroll deductions. Fitness Programs: The City will pay 50% payment of the monthly fee for the employee and spouse for one fitness center each. Participating centers are: Not the Norm Crossfit, Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness, and Infinity Fitness.
