COMMUNICATION REGARDING TEST INFORMATION WILL BE SENT VIA EMAIL & TEXT
PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
Treats municipal wastewater to environmental standards for effluent, by operating large, complex, partially automated treatment plants. Reviews conditions of machinery, facilities and biological processes. Ensures effluent meets coliform, chlorine and other limits, and to control odors. Receives chemical and supply deliveries.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Should be comfortable with working at heights, climbing stairs, tolerating odors, and using a tractor and bush hog and other power equipment to maintain grass and grounds. 12-hour rotating schedule with alternating days/nights. Work is potentially hazardous. Technical courses related to stationary electric motors and pumps, and/or introductory life sciences; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED. Must be capable of responding to the site within one hour of being notified.
APPRENTICESHIP:
Positions in this class may be assigned to an apprenticeship as defined by Civil Service Rule IV, Section 6. This requires the employee to complete initial and ongoing training requirements as established by Lafayette Utilities System with six (6) years of continued employment, including the obtainment of Class IV Wastewater Treatment certification administered by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION - Examination will be a multiple-choice test.
