(AWI) has a job opportunity for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator located in Macon, GA. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for leading the daily execution of the Boardmill process control strategy and managing treatment plant operations. Additionally, the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will be responsible for serving as point person to identify and participate in correction of treatment plant and operational issues such as waste treatment.What you'll be doing:This position ensures the Plant is supplied with process water and the solids are recirculated back into the system for use. Receives guidance from the EHS Specialist, Boardmill Value Stream Manager, VSIC and Engineer. Interfaces with other plant supervisors to ensure treatment plant remains operable so the plant can operate. Works as a team with the other Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators and the Boardmill group. Completes the necessary PM's and/or basic maintenance on critical treatment plant equipment. Other duties may be assigned.Job Responsibilities:Ensure the effective and timely management of process water and solids for the plantProper maintenance of equipment and facilitiesMinimization of wastewater dischargeEnsure all State and Federal water and environmental requirements are metQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Applying knowledge of process control tools to identify additional control and cost saving opportunitiesCommunicating with wet end operators and supervisors regarding process control issuesServing as relief supervisor to ensure the execution of crew responsibilitiesProviding support for root cause failure analysis (RCFA) activitiesProviding support and input to Boardmill Common Cause Team resources for updates to SOPs, Reaction Guides and While Running GuidesParticipating in the plant safety process by completing risk assessments, safety, and environmental training and housekeeping audits and tasksAdhering to documented reaction guides for troubleshooting situationsWhat will make you successful:Ability to operate and troubleshoot basic mechanical systems such as pumps, valves, filter presses, piping for the effective operation of the treatment plantProficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity using computer systems and programsDemonstrated ability to successfully run analytical tests, take measurements, document findings and take appropriate reactions as required for key compliance activitiesExperience and/or understanding of the primary & secondary treatment processAbility to work 8 - 12 hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and inclement weather (wastewater treatment is a 24-hour process)Ability to operate heavy machinery (dump truck and forklift) to load material into the processClass 3 or higher wastewater certificationProven ability to demonstrate general wastewater test methodsAbility to perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, conversion of fractions and conversion of units of measurementHigh School Diploma or equivalentPreferred Qualifications:Associates degree in chemistry, engineering or related field or relevant work experienceExperience in a process manufacturing environmentExperience with wastewater treatment processes3+ years of experience as a technician or operator in a manufacturing environmentPhysical Demands:These physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
