HOURLY RATE: $13.20 JOB OBJECTIVES: Under general supervision of' the Crew Leader. Position has responsibilities for reports and or records. Several decisions are made weekly requiring some interpretations and judgment. Renders simple public services several times a week. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works as a member of a crew when repairing or maintaining water, sewer lines and streets. Repairs and replace fire hydrants. Makes water taps. Inspects equipment for proper operation and safety prior to operating. Responds to emergencies when required; (subject to on call) Installation of new utility lines. Repair utility lines. Make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment. Performs related tasks as required. May perform other duties as assigned for different events (Ex. Parades or City Events). Will perform other related duties as assigned. EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS: Backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, generators, hand and powered tools, ladders, hammers, compressors, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position may have some unusual working hours, irregular hours or shifts, may involve occasional travel. Exposure to hazards which might result in serious injury; may work under extreme outdoor conditions. The physical demands are up to medium lifting up to 50 lbs. significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, and carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, sitting, pushing, and pulling. EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED: Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. Must be able to pass T.C.E.Q. Class D Certification in Distribution Water or Level I Collection within six months and must also be able to acquire a C License in Distribution Water or Level II Collection within 3 years of employment. Must be able to read and write English. Requires a valid Texas driver's license and sufficient knowledge in a field to perform most normal work as assigned with little direction supervision. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Class B CDL driver's license. Possess a valid T.C.E.Q. Class D or higher Level of water license and experience working in Water Distribution System.
