Performs tests to calibrate equipment to ensure water meters are functioning accurately. Performs a variety of routine manual tasks for the utilities divisions in such areas as installing, maintaining, disconnection and removal of new residential and commercial water meters. Reads and records consumption of residential and commercial water meters using computerized meter reading equipment on assigned routes; verifies that readings are within acceptable parameters.Performs various troubleshooting technics and analyze issues in the field.Install new water meters; record meter and account information and initiates new service by programing water meter when necessary.Repairs leaks on water meters by replacing washers, tightening connections and replacing fittings; perform pressure check of service lines; removes defective register installs new register when necessary. Turn off / Lock meters for non- payment.Replaces missing or broken water meter lids and boxes.Assists with repairs and maintenance of water meter vaults and lids, ensuring safe access and operation.Assist with test and repairs of residential, commercial meters of various sizes.Work closely with water office; learn and understand the needs of utility billing.Perform maintenance work related to water meter operations in a safe and efficient manner.Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, laptop; drives City vehicles to work sites, transport materials and assists other staff as required.Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and City staff; act in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.Other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Typical Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have high school diploma/GED
- Possession of a valid Class C Texas driver license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Water meter reading experience preferred
