ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures. Inspect pumps and motors on a daily basis; record vital numerical information. Inspect pumps and water production equipment for malfunctions or leaks; diagnose needed repairs. Do annual inspection of ground storage tanks and climb water towers for inspection. Clean and lubricate pumps and other production equipment as needed. Regulate the flow of water from reservoirs into various zones throughout the City's water system using the SCADA system and or manually. Perform weekly testing of equipment and machinery to maintain quality assurance and high performance. Record production and water demands. Perform chemical tests on water samples from various locations; ensure water quality meets regulated standards. Take State required bacteriological samples. Perform chemical tests of water supplies; determine chemical needs of the water; disinfect reservoirs as needed. Work with various chemicals. Maintain the security cameras of water pumping facilities. Align Microwave radios for CCTS. Maintain the facility grounds. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION
- High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE
- One year of experience in the water utilities field, preferably involving the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of water pumps and related systems.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Must Obtain a Class C Distribution state certification within one year following successful completion of probationary period, if hired after January 1, 2002. Failure to obtain certification will result in non-disciplinary termination.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with some overtime and rotating on-call.

Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the City provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
