Required Qualifications (as evidenced upon attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Science, Chemical Engineering or related field. Three years (3) or more of full-time experience in a managerial or strategic planning role involved with environmental regulation or policy at a Federal, State, County or local government agency or environmental consultant. Demonstrated experience organizing and leading inter-agency collaborative clean water efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with grant writing. Experience developing regulations for onsite septic systems or sewage treatment plants.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Center for Clean Water Technology (CCWT) at Stony Brook University seeks a part-time Project Staff Assistant to support efforts in developing relevant and widely applicable technologies to improve wastewater, groundwater and drinking water quality in New York State.

Responsibilities will include:

* Develop collaborations with government agencies and water authorities (e.g. USGS, US EPA, NYS DEC, NYS DOH, Suffolk and Nassau Counties, town and village) for the purpose of identifying fundable water quality projects in New York State.

* Apply for grant funding for collaborations identified above and specifically to analyze organic wastewater, groundwater and drinking water contaminants and to design associated remediation technologies.

* Liaise with SC DHS on matters of NYS CCWT interest.

* Review relevant Federal and New York State laws governing purchasing contracts with septic installers/technology vendors for the purpose of improving contract terms for NYS CCWT.

* Participate in strategic planning to achieve widespread installation of Center technologies for onsite wastewater treatment.

* Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
