DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs minor facility maintenance duties such as, changing light bulbs, changing filters and minor plumbing repair. Exercises full working knowledge of the correct and proper use and repair of all hand and power tools in performing duties. Paints interior and/or exterior surfaces as required.Maintains the grounds around the buildings, such as performing yard work, including but not limited to, mowing, trimming, hedge and tree trimming, maintaining flowerbeds and landscaping, weed removal and watering, etc. Maintains all miscellaneous power equipment, such as lawn mower, weed trimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower, snow blower, etc. Maintains the parking lots and sidewalks, including snow and ice removal, debris removal. Clears sidewalks, including public walkways bordering the facility.Performs janitorial services for the facility, such as but not limited to, emptying all trash and recycling receptacles or containers, sweeps, and mops floors, vacuums, washes windows, cleans bathrooms, stocks janitorial supplies, such as toilet paper, paper towels, etc., in their proper receptacles.Washes, scrubs, waxes and buffs floors as needed.Performs all errands to City Hall or various vendors as needed for pickup and delivery.Operates forklift to unload deliveries, move material and assist other employes as required. Operates a scissor lift and other equipment as needed. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year custodial, building maintenance and/or groundskeeping experience.Familiarity with common practices, methods, materials and tools used in building maintenance and janitorial duties. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to meet the physical, mental and visual standards of the job. May be required to lift up to 80 pounds. Ability to establish and maintain courteous and professional working relationships with employees and the public.Ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not needlessly endanger the safety to oneself, other persons, or equipment. Ability to work periodic overtime, with little notice, when clearing parking lots or as needed. May be required to access heights in excel of 25-feet. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid State of Michigan Driver's License. Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license and a scissor lift certification within three (3) months of hire.
