Hazen and Sawyer has an exceptional opportunity for a Water Treatment Process Engineer to join our Atlanta, GA office to engage in the planning, design, and construction administration of local and national drinking water treatment facility projects. This is a design-oriented role with supplemental activities such as facility evaluations, process optimization, and master planning. Responsibilities include serving as a lead project engineer, interfacing with Hazen clients, mentoring younger staff, and managing the preparation of plans, specifications, and reports. Candidate should be proficient in the evaluation, design, and permitting of drinking water treatment facilities. Candidate should be able to coordinate with regulatory agencies as well as in-house design disciplines (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls, etc.) to ensure a cohesive project design. Occasional local and regional travel may be required. Minimum professional qualifications:
- Proven project manager with drinking water process and treatment experience related to greenfield WTPs as well as upgrades and expansions to existing WTPs using a variety of treatment technologies.
- Experience with municipal water facilities, including all phases of a project (from concept development, project planning, facility evaluations, bench- and pilot studies, detailed design, construction administration, and operational assistance).
- At least 10 years of total experience, with a minimum of 4 years managing water treatment projects.
- Able to easily move around active construction sites safely and effectively.
- Valid US driver's license. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred professional qualifications:
- Greater than 15 years of total experience, with a minimum of 10 years managing water treatment projects.
- Surface water and groundwater treatment experience, preferably in the Southeast US.
- Working knowledge of Georgia EPD drinking water standards and US EPA regulations.
- 5+ years of experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams, including estimating workloads and developing project schedules.
- Entrepreneurship and a strong willingness to grow Hazen's drinking water team in Georgia and across the Southeast US region.
Minimal Credentials:
- Bachelor of Science in related engineering discipline.
- PE License in the state of Georgia or ability to obtain through comity within 6 months.
Preferred Credentials:
- A master's degree or PhD in related engineering discipline.
