Location: Tyler,TX, USA
Responsible for the operations and maintenance of elevated storage tanks, booster stations, and bacteriological sample collection and transportation to third party lab. Position reports to the water Treatment Superintendent or designee.
Daily site inspection visits to elevated storage tanks and booster stations
Collecting daily site chlorine residuals and submitting results to supervisors
Collection of bacteriological samples and transportation to third party lab
Routine maintenance on all remote site locations
Security of all remote locations
Diagnose/ repair and respond to emergency call outs at all remote sites
Startup and shutdown of remote sites
Serves as backup to the Water Treatment Technician II in their absence.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Replacement of malfunctioning equipment
Painting, lighting repairs /replacement
Provide site access to vendors, construction crews, telecommunication equipment vendors.
Assist plant operations by operating plant and or by assisting with mechanical repairs.
Serves as back-up Plant Operator at either water treatment plants as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Must have working knowledge of water quality rules and regulations.
Accurately collect, transport, and submit bacteriological samples in accordance with EPA/TCEQ regulations.
Respond to emergency callouts in a timely manner to diagnose /repair equipment malfunction Lift 100 lbs. occasionally, push, pull 50 lbs. frequently, push, pull 20 lbs. regularly; must be able to read, interpret plans and manuals.
Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required, plus one (1) year of experience in water treatment. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess a TCEQ Class C Surface Water license or be able to obtain within 18 months of employment. Must possess a valid Class C Texas Driver's License with a clear driving record.

The City of Tyler will accept two years of relevant experience in place of each year of college required in the job description. Four years of relevant experience will be considered in place of an Associate's Degree, and eight years of relevant experience will be considered in place of a Bachelor's Degree. Any experience required in the Minimum qualifications is in addition to years of experience substituted for a degree.
