- Ability to read and follow safety rules, City rules, codes, and instruction on proper use of safety equipment.
- Ability to learn to repair water and wastewater infrastructure such as water and sewer mains, fire hydrants, water meters, and service lines.

Minimum Education, Certification, and Experience RequirementsPay structureWater ProductionWater Utilities Entry Technician High school diploma or equivalent. Upon successful completion of initial probationary period, the Water Utilities Entry Technician will be reclassified to a Water Utilities Technician I. Failure to successfully complete the initial probationary period will result in termination of employment. Water Utilities Technician IHigh school diploma or equivalent. Must have a minimum of six months of recent experience in manual labor activities.Water Utilities Technician IIMust have one of the following:
- Class C Distribution OR Class C Groundwater license issued by the TCEQ
OR
- Valid Texas Class A CDL license with a Tanker Endorsement upon hire or promotion.
Water Utilities Technician IIIMust have a valid Texas Class A CDL license with a Tanker Endorsement upon hire or promotion. Must have an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.Must have one of the following:
OR
- Class C Groundwater license issued by the TCEQ
