Job Summary
We have an immediate need for an Operations Technician 1 or 2 located in Chester, Virginia. This role is responsible for the daily operations of an industrial water treatment plant with responsibilities that include water treatment, clarifier, filters, and chemical treatment processes. We may hire at either level depending on Education, Experience, and Skills. Apply even if you do not have all of the qualifications listed below.
Some of the work you will do:
* Perform intermediate housekeeping duties, accept training from Lead Technician, sample collecting, and field measurement of project KPI's.
* Make intermediate operational changes based on lab data. Perform jar testing, accurately strap chemical totes, and execute drawdowns on chemical pumps.
* Performs water sample testing to analyze and optimize plant efficiency
* Quickly and clearly communicates any malfunctions or operational problems. And maintains accurate and complete records and logs of all plant operations
* Calibrate and repair the various mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment associated with the plant (i.e. various electric pumps, drive units, reducers, pneumatic valves, solenoid valves and more).
* Perform operational adjustments base on understanding of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, pH, sedimentation, general chemistry reactions and coagulation.
* Work with water treatment chemicals and identify, track, and report inventory
Here are the skills that you need:
* H.S. Diploma, GED
* Ability to pass a criminal background, medical, drug, or other related screenings as required by specific client locations.
* Ability to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and examine pressure gauges/transducers and flow meters to detect abnormalities.
* Ability to read and interpret operation and maintenance manuals and equipment drawings, make mathematical calculations related to the work, and understand and carry out technical instructions.
* Maintain high levels of attention to details and ensure quality and consistency
* Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record
* Effectively works in a team environment leading and prioritizing daily tasks and operations
* Ability to maintain records and perform data entry tasks. And use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe and other basic office software to document operations.
* Ability to complete minimal domestic travel for training purposes
Here are the skills and qualifications that will set you apart:
* Associates degree or higher in an Engineering or related field
* State water/wastewater/industrial certification or license
* Two or more years of experience in water treatment plant operations
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
* Ability to stand, bend, see, hear, and speak.
* Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and/or with chemicals
* Ability to work at computer/desk and lab table
