Job Summary: Responsible for planning and directing the center School to Career/Work Based Learning program and coordinates all administrative aspects of students enrolled in Advanced Training and College Programs. Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Must create and sustain positive working relationships with co-workers.
  • Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
  • Ensures that student needs are met in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
  • Prepares reports and forms and documents in CIS case notes and files observations of student's behavior, performance, notable information or events, and progress towards achieving goals and objectives.
  • Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
  • Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
  • Meets individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.
  • Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CSD, and DOL standards, including conducting quarterly property counts, submitting property relocation requests, may serve as a property custodian, and submits maintenance requests as needed.
  • Works with staff, employers, organized labor, and the community to establish positive work-based learning sites for students to learn and practice skills they cannot easily learn in a classroom setting.
  • Plans and coordinates activities to bring together the appropriate persons, including employers, educators, trainees, and staff to ensure the success of the school-to-Career/Work-based Learning program.
  • Generates work site opportunities that best match the training capabilities and needs of trainees with employers' requirements. Develops and maintains copies WBL MOUs with employers prior to students participating in training at each site. This must include mutual expectations and requirements, and ensure employer feedback on skills obtained or strengthened, and feedback on remediation needed.
  • Coordinates with Center Safety Officer to inspect each prospective WBL for safety and appropriateness prior to students being assigned for training.
  • Escorts potential employers on tours; serves as a guest speaker on and off campus to promote the School to Career program.
  • Serves as liaison between the Center and various work sites.
  • Serves as liaison with the Career Development Departments in monitoring the coordination of academic and vocational training and work site learning.
  • Schedules and transports trainees to work sites as needed.
  • Visits work sites to monitor trainee progress.
  • Counsel's trainees on their evaluations
  • Serves as substitute teacher to allow the vocational instructors to visit work sites periodically.
  • Submit all required reports.
  • Develops and implements a center Advanced Training Program based on goals and objectives to include Advanced Training and College opportunities.
  • Develops a program that will generate college opportunities for students; meets with college personnel to explore all possible avenues for placement.
  • Reviews records to ascertain which students would benefit from college programs.
  • Assists in the processing and maintenance of records of students in the College Program and prepares required reports on enrollments.
  • Conducts tours of the center for college personnel; serves as guest speaker on and off center to promote the College program.
  • Assists students in registering for, and scheduling classes and other matters as needed for college enrollment.
  • Monitors student attendance, progress and performance while enrolled in College Program.
  • Conducts individual and group counseling sessions with assigned students regarding educational and personal development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
RequirementsQualifications: Minimum: Bachelor's degree or 4 years professional experience working with youth. Two years' experience in marketing, sales, or counseling related areas.Preferred: Supervisory experience.Knowledge: Good understanding of the local community and employer base. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with strong proficiency in Excel. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Ability to effectively relate to trainees and staff at all levels. Must possess a valid State driver's license. Ability to read, interpret and analyze labor trend studies. Excellent organizational skills.
