UP Health System - Portage, located in Hancock, Michigan, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our emergency medicine team. This full-time, employed position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to our established healthcare community in the Upper Peninsula while enjoying a supportive work environment and a balanced lifestyle.

Position Detail:

• Single specialty with four physicians

• Lab, PT, rehab, OT, cardio-pulmonary rehab all on-site at Portage

• ACS verified Level III trauma center

• Emergency Physician will/does write basic admission orders for hospitalists 5 pm -7a

• Psych patients are handled by a 24-hour on-call Psych counselor/ social worker (no inpatient psych unit)

• Rapid Triage System, 3–5 minutes.

• Meditech EMR

• Digital radiology

• 15 shifts per month 11a to 9p

• 8 ED beds including 5 private rooms and a 3 bay trauma room

• Private rooms with bedside Ultrasound, MRI, CD

• Meditech EMR

Hospital:

UP Health System-Portage has been providing comprehensive healthcare for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan since 1896. The 36-bed hospital is a verified chest pain center through the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) and houses the area's only open bore MRI machine. UPHS-Portage was home to the first Level III ACS (American College of Surgeons) verified trauma center and emergency department in the state.
