We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. This role is essential in promoting the health and well-being of individuals across various settings, including skilled nursing facilities, clinics, and home health environments.Duties
  • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Provide direct patient care, including therapeutic exercises and activities aimed at improving mobility, strength, and coordination.
  • Monitor patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans and home exercises to facilitate recovery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and progress notes in compliance with facility policies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Uphold safety standards and infection control protocols within the clinical environment.
Skills The ideal candidate will possess a combination of required and desirable skills, including:
  • Knowledge of occupational health practices and principles.
  • Experience in acute care settings.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to therapy practices.
  • Familiarity with home care operations.
  • Understanding of medical terminology for effective communication within healthcare teams.
  • Experience in home health services, providing therapy in patients' residences.
  • Knowledge of geriatrics, focusing on the unique needs of older adults.
