Applications are being accepted for a full time position of Weights and Measures Inspector with the Delaware County Auditor's Office. This position is responsible for inspecting any weighing or measuring device that is used in commercial transactions. Some of the devices inspected and tested are fuel meters, scales, price verification systems, packages and more. The inspector will work to protect consumers and merchants by ensuring that the weighing and measuring devices are correct and accurate.
* Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Excellent math skills and possess the ability to use a scientific calculator.
* Ability to work well with the public and maintain a good working relationship with establishment owners.
* Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
* Ability to maintain organized records and files.
* Ability to achieve certification from Ohio Department of Agriculture through a series of lesson plans and exams.
* Basic computer skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Inspect and test various devices throughout the County including scales, retail motor fuel dispensers, package checking, label checking, vehicle scales, bulk fuel tank trucks, propane tanks and more.
* Respond to consumer complaints and follow up with appropriate supervisor.
* Attend training and continuing education courses required by the State of Ohio.
* Various other tasks as assigned.
