THE POSITION

The Department of Agriculture is seeking skilled candidates for the position of Weights and Measures Inspector. This essential role focuses on enforcing State Weights and Measures Laws and Regulations, contributing significantly to a fair marketplace. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will evaluate and perform accuracy assessments on weighing and measuring instruments utilized in commercial transactions. You will also examine commodities that are packaged, sold, or available for sale based on weight, measure, or count. Additionally, you will oversee the inspections conducted by Certified Examiners of Weights and Measures and investigate claims of fraud and misconduct, taking enforcement measures as required. Your responsibilities will be carried out in Region 7, encompassing Schuylkill, Berks, Northampton, Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware, and Chester counties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ This position will be home-headquartered if applicant lives in Lehigh County. If applicant does not live in Lehigh County, the assigned state vehicle must be parked in Lehigh County and the work day will start at 8:00 AM at the location of the assigned state vehicle.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Four years of public contact work, including one year of experience in weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school; or
+ Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections.
Special Requirements:
+ This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
