Basic Job Functions:Responsibilities for the Welder include but are not limited to:
- Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Welding steel structural parts as specified per drawing or print.
- Operating grinder to prepare and finish welds.
- Operating flip rite.
- Operating transfers.
- Operating magnetic drill.
- Full visual inspection of part ensuring all welds are in place and properly applied.
- Effectively communicating with upstream and downstream to address safety, quality, and efficiency issues/concerns.
Minimum Qualifications: - Candidate will be required to complete and pass an internal welding test.
Preferred Qualifications: - Can read and understand weld symbols
- Can use an arc gouger
- Previous crane certification
- Previous experience in material handling
