Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:To provide sanitary welds, fabricate, repair and assist on the design of any plant stainless steel, sheet metal or structural needs. Ability to read and draw blueprints, design, plan and execute complex 3-D designs. Inspect, and repair Wyandot, Inc. buildings and related equipment with minimal downtime. RESPONSIBILITESDUTIES:
  • Receives and follows work instructions from supervision.
  • Develops team atmosphere between Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Warehouse.
  • Plans work procedures, determines tools and materials required.
  • Inspects mechanical equipment for defects; ie: misalignment, wear, etc.
  • Determines best way of making repairs to minimize cost and interruption of production.
  • Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect.
  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, lubricates, and lathe shop equipment.
  • Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.
  • Assembles and aligns gears, bearings and shafts.
  • Records daily data of work performed. Maintain 5S boards.
  • Keeps working area clean and orderly. Housekeeping and cleaning is a requirement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to follow instructions, as well as work independently. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., which is necessary to repair gear boxes, motors, etc. Supplies designated personal hand tools. Works for Area Manager - Production as assigned. Must be able to work well with co-workers and supervision in a team environment. Must be able to operate the following: Mig, Tig, Wire Feed, stick, as well as soldering, brazing and portable Suitcase welders. Can operate plasma cutter, bench grinder, drill press, band saw, shear, hoist, acetylene torch, sheet metal bender, as well as all shop pneumatic air tools. Must have a minimum of five years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment. Requires the ability to work off of platforms, which can be up to 15 feet off the ground. Must have the manual skill and dexterity to move and work around heavy machinery throughout the plant. Must have good basic math skills. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be able to communicate in English clearly in both verbal and written form. Must be able to endure hot and cold temperatures in the work environment. Must wear Arc flash clothing. Requires successful tow motor licensing. Hard toe shoes and earplugs are mandatory in designated areas. Other details
