ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE BUSINESS: CIRCOR Pumps, N.A. LOCATION: Monroe, NC DIRECT REPORTING: Production Supervisor FUNCTIONAL REPORTING: Position Summary The Welder III position is an advanced level welder and will be responsible for pressure vessel welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using TIG and MIG welding equipment. Must be able to perform x-ray quality welds. Candidate will be responsible for reading fabrication prints, routes, standard work instructions, and/or manuals to weld various systems. Principal Activities
  • Operate the following equipment: Heating torches, band saw, radial drill, engine lathe, layout table, hand & power tools, welders and plasma torches.
  • Work from route tags, blueprints and sketches to determine materials needed for fab.
  • Determine, from print, critical dimensions and take necessary steps.
  • Determine weld requirement from print. Determine the best method of layout, fit-up and assembly from print.
  • Fit assembly and weld as needed to avoid weld distortion.
  • Flame straightens as required.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welds to include base plates (structural) and pipes.
  • Use measuring instruments such as scale, level, square, and burning templates.
  • Remove burrs and sharp edges, mark and identify to maintain heat numbers tractability.
  • Cut up and prepare rough materials for welding on an as-needed basis.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed.
Job Requirements:CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Must be able to obtain in-house structural welding certification.
  • Must be certified for ASME Section 9 welding (a full welding certification). This includes pressure vessel and piping welding. GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG)
  • Use of trades mathematics, together with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas; all varieties of precision measuring instruments. Equivalent to completed accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft or occupation, or equivalent to a one-year technical college education.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Welding certification required.
  • 3 - 5 years welding experience.
