Job Title: Welder Level 1

Summary This role is a crucial part of the multi-step process involved in creating products from diverse alloys. The Welder utilizes a range of welding equipment set up in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead) to permanently join metal components. The position also involves managing paperwork associated with the product's progression through the production sequence.
Responsibilities - Perform manual and semiautomatic welding
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet specified standards during the welding process
- Identify and address product defects
- Conduct dimensional measurements on products before and after welding
- Report equipment or product issues
- Brief the incoming shift on work in progress
- Ensure forklifts are in good working condition for loading and unloading
- Maintain product identification for traceability before and after work
- Verify that shop router and product material match and that the router is signed off by the prior department
- Prioritize safety, adhering to company safety requirements, and remaining aware of surroundings at all times
Qualifications - Proficiency in loading and unloading material onto welding equipment without damaging the product
- Ability to read and understand welding procedures
- Competency in various welding positions, including flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, such as TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), and ARC
- Skill in selecting and setting up welding equipment
- Experience with lift trucks and/or successful completion of Lift Truck competency review
- Basic knowledge of different welding techniques and welding equipment
- Willingness to progress through in-service training at specified timeframes
- Accurate reading of tape measures and other measuring tools
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently
- Attention to detail
Education and/or Experience - Completion of a trade school welding training program or relevant experience (may be substituted)
- High School diploma or GED
- Industry welding certifications are a plus
