Virginia MetalFab is looking for a motivated and energetic individual to fill the role of a Welder/Metal Fabricator.WHO YOU ARE IN THIS ROLEAs a Welder/Metal Fabricator you will be a part of an AWESOME shop team. Your responsibilities will be to fabricate, position, align, and fit parts of structural metal products. You will find friends here and we encourage you to bring along your friends too!FUNCTIONS OF THE JOBStudy engineering drawings, blueprints, and other instructions to determine materials requirements, task sequences and operational methods.Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.Measure dimensions of completed products and verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.Align and fit parts and workpieces according to specifications, using jacks, turn buckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting.Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications.Set up and utilize jigs, fixtures, welding torches, hand tools and welding equipment.Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, plasma cutters, grinders, punch press, manual milling machine, radial arm drill press, plate rolling machine, manual lathe, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.Lay out and examine metal stock, parts or workpieces to be processed and prepare assembly to ensure that specifications are met.Inspect products and ensure proper assembly.Cut, clean, fit up and tack-weld aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel parts together.Lift or move materials, workpieces, and finished products using cranes, forklift or other lifting equipment.Remove high spots and cut bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.Smooth metal surfaces or workpiece edges and fix taps, tubes, and valves.Mount attachments, materials or tools onto production equipment.Assemble temporary equipment or structures.Locate and mark workpiece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.Draw guidelines or markings on materials or workpieces using patterns or other references.Design and construct templates, patterns, work aides and fixtures, using hand tools.Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.Straighten warped or bent parts, shape or reshape metal workpieces to established specifications using, hammers and small hand tools, sledges, hand torches, and straightening presses.MIG/TIG weldingSHIFTMonday - Thursday/ 6:00am-4:30pmBENEFITSAs careful as you might be, we know from time to time you're gonna need to see a good ole Doc.Get sick or injured - we've got you covered.Get hurt on the job - we've got you covered.Need to get your teeth cleaned - we've got you covered.Need to pay your bills - we've got you covered there too by providing you with competitive compensation!RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDHS diploma or GED.Ability to wear various forms of PPE.Ability to lift/carry up to and including 51-100 lb.Ability to push/pull up to and including 41-100 lb.6 - 12 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Technical Skills - Ability to set up and operate machinery, good math skills, and able to work from blueprints.Computer Skills - Ability to use MS Suite, basic computer skills.Certification, Licensure - Forklift operator.Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.Research Skills - Ability to design and conduct a systematic, objective, and critical investigationProblem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.Innovative - Ability to look beyond the standard solutions.Conceptual Thinking - Ability to think in terms of abstract ideas.Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.OUR HIRING PROCESS1 - You read this job posting2 - It piques your interest3 - You tell us you are interested by applying and telling us more about yourself4 - If your qualifications line up for the opening, we call you to introduce ourselves5 - You come and hang out with us and meet the in-person team6 - You tell everyone how amazing your life has become7 - Your friends come on over and join us too!ADVICEDON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!
