Job DescriptionThe Welding Engineer supports the enterprise Welding Quality Assurance group and shall understand the project document management responsibilities, required software systems, and corporate operating procedures necessary to function in a fast-paced, multitasking environment. The Welding Engineer will coordinate the transmission of documents through related protocols with the home office Document Control department and project requirements, and work with and support the other Welding Quality Assurance Welding Engineers and Field Quality Control Manager. The Welding Engineer is also responsible for logging, accurately tracking, and storing welding-related documents transmitted to and from individual projects and third-party suppliers.ResponsibilitiesProcessing Weld Testing Instruction Forms (WTIF) for multiple locations. Scheduling welders for testing at third-party testing facilities. Witness welder testing and procedure qualifications at various metallurgical testing laboratories.Writing, certifying compliance, and distributing welder performance qualification records (WPQs) to Project QC Managers. Updating and distributing Welder Maintenance Logs (WMLs). Review and approve third-party vendor invoices for payment. Execute the transmission, tracking, retrieval, and distribution of Welding Quality Assurance documentation, including, but not limited to project welding procedures, welder performance qualifications and welder maintenance continuity logs. Distribute documents in an accurate and timely manner.Accurately and effectively communicate with other members of the Welding Quality Assurance team regarding document progress and status. Work with members of the Welding Quality Assurance department and ensure that current procedures and processes are being followed, educate team members accordingly, and provide feedback of such to departmental management. Assistance with management of Zachry's Quality Management Systems and coordination and communication of Responsible Business Practices.Review of project specifications for welding processes, base metal, filler metal, and heat treatment requirements. Develops and writes Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), as required.Provide welding engineering support for construction projects, maintenance sites, and proposal efforts.This position reports to the Manager, Welding Quality Assurance. QualificationsB.S. Welding Engineering or Welding TechnologyA.S. Welding Technology + 3 years' experienceAWS CWI or ability to pass ASNT Level II VT examWorking knowledge of ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and other welding related codes. Knowledge of Windows based products including Word, Excel, SharePoint, and document managements systems such as Acconex, iDocs, Documentum, etc. Ability and openness for up to 15% travel.Strong in person and electronic communication skills. Comfortable managing multiple tasks concurrently.Ability to manage time.Highly organized and detail oriented. Must be able to coordinate effectively between Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Document Control departments. Use smart phone, tablet and/or company issued computer in support of electronic mail, and standard Microsoft Office software (Access, Excel, Outlook, Word). Must possess United States citizenship. Will be required to work on scheduled weekends. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiar with Industrial welding codes such as ASME IX and AWS D1.1.Familiar with Industrial document control and revision control practices.Familiar with welding software such as TWI Welding Qualifier or equivalent#LI-KS1
