Key: *** = Full Time & Part Time Regular Staff OnlyAs a Wellness Aquatic Specialist, you will carry out our Mission of Love by being responsible for group and individual fitness instruction, exercise prescription, personal training, fitness testing, assessments, and wellness coaching for our population served. Responsible for designing and implementing innovative wellness workshops and events. Opening and closing the facility, data entry, billing/transactions, incident reporting and producing administrative reports. Responsible for the daily operations and scheduled maintenance of equipment at the Wellness Center. Our Wellness Aquatic Specialist is responsible for the following:
  • Perform new member orientation to all equipment. Responsible for instructing the proper use of all fitness equipment and proper techniques in performing all exercises in the pool or class area in a safe manner.
  • Design exercise training programs with reference to the individual health & exercise history. Assist members in setting fitness/wellness goals and supervise training program progression to meet goals. Perform fitness testing and assessments and report results with interpretation to members.
  • Responsible for reporting damage to the facility or equipment to the Director of Wellness and Prevention in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all emergency facility procedures. Responsible for all operations and safety of equipment of the wellness center.
  • Responsible for working a flex schedule relative to the needs of the program, including early morning, evenings and weekends. Covers other staff duties due to vacation or absences.
  • Maintains a reliable presence in the wellness center so as to be available to members for assistance and informal instruction.
  • Responsible for wellness workshops and event development and evaluation. Plan and implement wellness incentive programs and educational campaigns. Create new ideas for programs, member recruitment and retention.
  • Designs advertisements for marketing the current program offerings and health & wellness information for our population served.
  • Design and implement group fitness classes on land and/or in the water. Continue to change and add variety to each class to increase participant satisfaction.
  • Provide wellness coaching services assisting with goals and objectives for healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Administrative Duties: Responsible for membership management in the wellness center computer system for each individual member and/or participant of the wellness center and pools including billing, application information, health screening, referrals and physician clearances. Corresponds with internal and external medical staff including rehabilitation therapists, physicians and nursing to ensure proper exercise prescription.
What You Have:
  • On-going knowledge of ACSM, ICAA, and Senior Fitness standards of practice in the health & fitness industry.
  • Knowledge of individual exercise prescription and group exercise instruction on land and/or in the water for all age groups and populations.
  • Experience in designing fitness programs with adult's age 55+ and for special populations (i.e. post cardiac rehabilitation, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, orthopedic, Parkinson's Disease etc.)
  • Computer skills and advanced knowledge of computer programs used to operate the wellness center, advertise programs, central schedule, resident billing, work orders, incident reporting, administrative reports/spreadsheets and data entry.
  • Bachelor Degree in Health/Fitness related field preferred.
Maintains Certifications in:
  • CPR, AED and First Aid.
  • ACSM Exercise Physiologist or equivalent preferred.
  • AFAA, NETA, ACSM Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer or equivalent.
  • Life Guard preferred upon hire (If not certified must obtain within 6 months of hire).
