This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Wellness Assistant is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs.The Wellness Assistant is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.Primary Responsibilities of the Wellness Assistant
- Assists with community and employee surveys.
- Requisitions and maintains accurate inventory of equipment and supplies as needed.
- Reports any unsafe conditions, hazards, and violations to the appropriate staff.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining accurate and complete records and reports.
- Attends weekly, biweekly, or monthly meetings with Wellness staff.
- Assists with quarterly or yearly events.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting service appointments with members to include: body fat analysis, nutritional coaching, proper usage of fitness equipment, and instruction of proper form of exercise, etc.
- Assists in tracking appointments/sessions via scheduling software.
- Assists in creating, promoting, and operating ongoing fitness programs to gain feedback on existing and future programs.
- Assists in creating, instructing, and delivering organized individual/group classes.
- Assists in preparing the Fitness Center for usage by making certain that it is clean, orderly, and in operable condition prior to opening the Fitness Center.
- Assists in the development and implementation of a specialized exercise regimen for participants.
- Assists in training participants on the use of the facilities exercise equipment.
- Demonstrates appropriate customer service skills when greeting the clients.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) year experience in Wellness Program required.
- Must possess First Aid Certification, including CPR and Life Saving or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of official date of hire in this position.
- Must possess certification of Mandatory Reporter Training or obtain during the first week of employment.
- Must possess ServSafe Certification or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
Skills Required
- Absolute confidentiality.
- Demonstrate efficiency in English, spelling, punctuation, and basic writing skills.
- Working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
- Must be people oriented, relate well to people from diverse backgrounds, and possess a high level of maturity.
- Ability to understand and complete written and verbal instructions. Must possess character that earns the confidence of program participants and community, and minimizes public criticism or complaints.
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, and twist for an extended period of time as well as climb, lift, hold, and move objects weighing a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development and other events.
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
