Under the direction of the Wellness Coordinator or Director, the Wellness Attendant is responsible for serving as a liaison between the participants, members and professional staff concerning al wellness equipment, program and policies. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.PAY: $12/hr.HOURS: M-F 5 am-9 pm and Saturdays 8 am-5 pm.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Provides instruction to members on proper operation of equipment in wellness center through fitness orientation and programs, and gives ongoing feedback as necessary.* Intentionally works to build effective and appropriate relationships with members and other staff.* Makes rounds in the wellness center to interact with members and monitor for safe use of equipment, providing appropriate feedback and correction as needed.* Cleans all equipment in the wellness center ensuring a safe, healthy and positive environment for all.* Keeps all weights properly stored on racks when not in use to ensure that the free weight area is always uncluttered and members are able to use the equipment based on their own lifting abilities at all times.* Adheres to all policies and procedures established by the Wellness Director and assertively enforces all Wellness Center safety rules while maintaining a positive customer service approach to the participant.* Assist with fitness testing as needed.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Primary Leadership Competencies Required:* Collaboration - Creates sustainable relationships within the Y and with other organizations in service to the community.* Inclusion - Values all people for their unique talents and takes an active role in promoting practices that support diversity, inclusion and global work, as well as cultural competence.* Communication & Influence - Listens and expresses self effectively and in a way that engages, inspires, and builds commitment to the Y's cause.* Functional Expertise - Executes superior technical skills for the role.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively present information to participants and staff. Ability to solve practical problems.* Ability to communicate effectively across all socio-economic levels of the community to inspire and encourage effectively participation in all wellness activities.* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, crouch or crawl. Employee must be able to occasionally lift and carry weights of more than 100 pounds in assisting members with weight routines.* Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, close vision, distance vision and depth perception.* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to high places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.* CPR/AED, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen certifications required upon hire. Additional training recommended after hire.
