Wellness Center Staff are responsible for exemplifying professionalism, serving as a resource for members and guests and providing excellent customer service.JOB LOCATION: Waukee Family YMCASHIFTS AVAILABLE:Weekdays Monday-Friday 5-8am, 9-11am, 3:30-6:00pm & Saturday 1-4pm. Total 6-10 hours a week.PAY RANGE: $10.25-$12.00/hourCLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: January 10, 2025 - Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitor the wellness center areas to ensure a safe, hazard-free environment, addressing safety issues as directed.Continuously monitor wellness center areas to assist members with questions and issues.Continuously facilitate member involvement by actively seeking opportunities to build relationships.Actively promote member engagement by encouraging involvement in related Y programs and small communities.Assume a leadership role for members, demonstrating professionalism and equipment expertise.Encourage and support members as they strive to attain their personal fitness and wellness goals.Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the wellness center areas by cleaning equipment, desks, and all surface areas regularly.Assist, as required, with training and orientation of new Y staff.Know all emergency procedures and be able to demonstrate them.Complete accident/incident reports and submits to supervisor or designated staff person.Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person.Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values.RequirementsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functionsMust be at least 16 years of ageOne year previous customer service experience Previous fitness and/or wellness experience preferredAmerican Red Cross CPR-PR/AED/First Aid Certifications or equivalent certifications approved by the YMCA - prior to startingIntro to Y's Cause & Culture Online Course - prior to startingAdditional training to be assigned and completed within 30 days and maintained afterwards.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
