Responsible for delivering high impact programming related to fitness, student wellness and campus engagement. Supervises part time students and works closely with Health and Wellness, Counseling, Facilities, Residence Life, Student Services and Athletic departments to deliver wellness services. This position is a part-time, 25 hour per week position. Hours are primarily during the academic year when classes are in session and the Residence Hall is open. Major ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership, supervision, and direction to the Fitness Center, Open Gym, and Health and Wellness programs. Direct and supervise fitness center and open gym staff; ensuring safety and effective operations.
- Hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates part-time student staff
- Respond to fitness center/open gym user needs for setup, changes or additional equipment
- Develop and lead Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Prevention programs, especially supporting wellness promotion/programming in the residence halls
- Work collaboratively with clubs/organizations and individual students to support mental health and wellness
- Engage with internal stakeholders such as Student Conduct, Residence Life, Counseling, Student Engagement, Athletics, and other departments to collaborate on outreach and programming
- Provide direct support to the Community Hub affording accessible, one-stop access to students seeking emergency help and basic necessity
- Communicate maintenance and other problem areas to Facility Department or appropriate vendors
- Establish and maintain center and equipment inventory
- Assure building access related to fitness center
- Establish and execute preventative maintenance programs for facility equipment
- Develop and implement student worker training and safety training programs
- Create and schedule fitness related programs
- Help users establish individual fitness plans
- Develop and maintain a check in system to monitor student and staff usage
- Communicate operational and general concerns to the Director of Health and Wellness
- Prepare reports and complete special assignments, as required.
Other duties as assigned Required SkillsCPR/First Aid Certified. Interest and experience in mentoring, supporting, and expanding the horizons of college students through both formal supervision and informal interaction. History of success working both independently and in cross-functional teams. Ability to organize and track multiple projects and engage internal and external stakeholders in collaborative problem solving with accuracy and grace. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.Strong communication, collaborative and organizational skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Ability to handle confidential information with absolute discretion. Must be able to use established College policy to assist with decision making. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends, as needed.Educational RequirementsAssociate degree required. Bachelor degree preferred.Years of Experience1-3 years of prior work experience, preferably working in wellness, fitness, or in a health care or educational environment.Working Conditions and Physical RequirementsOffice environment.
