To learn more about GSCY, visit our website: Somerset County YMCA seeks a dynamic, take-charge person with strong credentials and a solid wellness/fitness background to provide strategic direction and leadership to our wellness programming at our recently remodeled wellness center at our Hillsborough, NJ branch. Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Wellness Director is responsible for the management of all day-to-day Wellness Center operations and programming to include oversight of all personal training, group exercise, and floor supervisor staff to ensure high level of services and staff accountability in the Wellness Center. The Wellness Director also develops, plans, and implements new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals in support of our specialized programming to include active older adult, chronic disease prevention, and LIVESTRONG and other programming.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Implement wellness, group exercise, and personal training programs that promote retention of existing members and engage new members.Analyze data, systems, and processes to recognize growth and retention opportunities within the Wellness department.Evaluate group fitness schedule for usage and make needed changes to schedule.Create and implement wellness and lifestyle programs, personal training, and group exercise participation through product knowledge and interactions with existing and potential members.Work with Membership Director to maximize the experience for new members and collaborate with all departments to maximize enrollments in program registration and achieve desired results.Drive revenue through the sales of personal training, group training, and wellness programming.Ensure proper implementation of wellness schedules and procedures to provide maximum opportunities for member/staff connections.Identify and employ best practices in systems and technology to support effective management of the department.Utilize available technology, reporting tools, and data that enhance wellness participation and member retention.Create and manage the Wellness Department budget.Provide leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign.Ensure all staff are current with required certifications.Direct staff to support health and wellness initiatives to achieve retention goals.Recruit, select, develop, and retain appropriate skill depth level for the department. Support training and career succession plan for staff team.Provide leadership through established performance goals and standards, regular assessment of group fitness and training staff performance including performance evaluations and staff meetings.Monitor daily operations to adhere to all safety standards and policies.Communicate equipment repair and maintenance needs to ensure all equipment is always in proper and efficient working order.Must have flexibility in work schedule and expectations to work evenings and weekends.Promote and represent the mission and core values of the GSC YMCA.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:Minimum 3 years of management experience overseeing wellness, group exercise, and personal training programs essential and possess knowledge of Exercise Physiology, Strength Training Principles and Technique, Exercise for Older Adults, and Member Service.Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have supervisory, leadership, interpersonal, communication, and entrepreneur's attitude and skills to work well with staff and interact with membership.Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and develop staff.Demonstrated skills in sales, fundraising, public relations, and programming for wellness initiatives.Incumbent should be able to administer fitness assessments and design fitness and group exercise programs.ACSM, NSCA, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required.Microsoft Office proficiency required.Benefits of working full-time at GSCY include:FREE family membership to Greater Somerset County YMCA, including full access to all of our branch facilities including Bridgewater YMCA, Hillsborough YMCA, Princeton YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA, and Somerville YMCA.FREE nationwide membership with access to over 2,500 YMCA locations across the country.Discounted program fees.Paid sick leave and short-term disability insurance.Employee Assistance Program (EAP).Generous 12% retirement contribution to the YMCA Retirement Fund after eligibility period (no employee contribution required).Medical and dental insurance with prescription coverage.Vision insurance.Flexible Spending Account for medical and/or dependent care.100% contribution towards life insurance and long-term disability.Optional additional life insurance and dependent life insurance available at low rates.403(b) Smart Savings Plan.Generous paid time off policy.7 paid holidays.Greater Somerset County YMCA is a drug-free work environment.
