Job Description:

Primary Functions: The Wellness Office Coordinator/Administrative Float, under the direction of the Family and Community Engagement Manager, will provide support to basic student health needs, as well as work with the Minneapolis Public Schools nurse to ensure proper recordkeeping and compliance. This position also serves on the Family and Community Engagement team to provide support in communication to families, project and event support, as well as provide backup to the Receptionist.

This position requires occasional nights and weekends.

In order to best serve our families and students, bilingual verbal and written skills/fluency in Spanish is required; to best represent our students, candidates who identify as Hispanic/Latino/Latina/Latine, Black, or are from Somali or East African communities are also strongly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Wellness Office

  • Staff and maintain the Wellness Office and student health records.
  • Attend to immediate general student wellness needs, e.g headaches, sprains.
  • Uphold school-wide expectations, routines, and norms for student conduct.
  • Collaborate with the Academic and Corporate Work Study Teams, staff, and parents to ensure students physical and mental health needs are properly supported and to assist them and the students in meeting other CRJHS expectations.
  • Collaborate with the assigned Minneapolis Public Schools nurse and social workers to ensure students physical and mental health needs are properly supported; including referring cases to health care professionals.
  • Coordinate with local healthcare organizations to conduct onsite vaccination clinics, vision screenings, and other potential community health offerings.
  • Order Wellness Office supplies, in collaboration with the MPS nurse and the Family and Community Engagement Manager, to ensure the office is adequately stocked.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Family and Community Engagement Manager and Principal.

Family and Community Engagement Administration

  • Facilitate communication between families and individuals within the school, including intake for parent concerns, transferring the parent to the appropriate staff member, and documenting all communication.
  • Under direction from the Family and Community Engagement Manager, liaison with parent leadership, Parent Ambassadors, grade level liaisons, and volunteers for all-school priorities and events.

Administrative Float Responsibilities

  • Crosstrain and provide backup support to the Receptionist during absences.
  • Communicate with families as needed.
  • Under direction of the Family and Community Engagement Manager, be present for and support coordination and operations of family engagement events.

Qualifications and Requirements

Successful applicants will embody the mission-commitment, openness to growth, optimism, and professionalism that are central to the character of our staff. In addition, they will meet or exceed the following requirements:

  • Associates degree or 3+ years experience in health-related field strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual verbal and written skills in Spanish and English required.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification or First Aid training strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Web-based tools, Microsoft Office tools, e.g. Excel, Word, and Google products.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate successfully across the school community and respond with flexibility and a willingness to assist with needs as they arise.
  • Complete Virtus training, sign a Code of Conduct, and pass a background check.

Additional Information

Employees in their first three years of employment will participate in Ignatian Identity cohort meetings held every six weeks with the Director of Jesuit Mission and Identity to learn more about and engage with Jesuit and Ignatian values and spirituality. Also, they will attend the Ignatian Retreat for New Employees during the summer after their first year of employment, with expenses paid by the school. This workshop focuses on the importance of reflection on experience, Ignatian guiding principles, and the spirituality that animates Jesuit (Ignatian) education.

Compensation details: 20-20.7 Hourly Wage
