WGBC Church Business Manager Overview This position plays an essential role at Willow Glen Bible Church. The church business manager is responsible for managing the church's finances, daily operations, facilities, and administrative support through the administrative staff and the coordination of volunteers. The church administrator partners with the pastoral staff to care for the church body and serve its ministry to the community. The position requires attention to detail in finances, facilities, insurance policies, benefits, taxes, and legal matters. It requires good team-building skills to work with other staff and volunteers in managing church events, facilities, property management, communication, and administrative support for pastoral staff. Financial, Legal, and Human Resources
- Accountability for managing finances and preparing and reporting monthly financials:
- Oversee preparation and reporting of financial information including budget via QuickBooks, processing payroll, and working with third parties (i.e., accounting firm) as needed for federal and state tax filings and benefits.
- Manage church operations smoothly and efficiently, optimizing spending and the balance of volunteers and paid staff.
- Manage church budget and bank accounts, tracking incoming and outgoing funds. Manage tracking of donors and the church's purchasing activity. Ensure there is financial accountability and integrity as recommended by auditing experts.
- Select and ensure excellence (integrity and efficiency) in the use of all business and administrative systems for tracking/reporting donations, payroll, financial reporting, etc.
- Work with the Elder Board and staff on budgeting needs. Communicate critical financial information to the Board and staff promptly. Work with the Elder Salary committee to oversee staff compensation.
- Oversee the church's insurance program (property and liability, workers' compensation, medical, dental, life, vision, and AD&D) to meet its needs while ensuring it is competitive and cost-effective. Inform Elders and staff of any relevant legal or tax changes.
- Oversees all staff hiring and management processes, including filing applications, background checks, and conformance to necessary state and federal employment laws and regulations. Review all policies, payroll, benefits, and expenses with existing and new staff as needed.
Management of Facilities and Administrative Staff
- Facilities and property management
- Oversee all church properties' maintenance, security, and cleanliness of all church properties, including rental housing properties. Manage church facilities and work with volunteers, deacons, elders, and vendors on maintenance and/or improvements. Ensure the quality of work can meet the needs and demands of a large commercial property.
- Oversee and manage the facility staff. Management of these positions includes the ability to manage performance, hire, and take performance actions as needed with the Elders' approval.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes/requirements. Document policies related to church assets and their use and communicate them in a manner that protects the church from liability.
- Oversee administrative support staff for scheduling of on-campus events and activities. The facility must be safe and secure through good stewardship and adherence to proper policies and procedures.
- Administrative Team: Communication and Coordination
- Oversee the administration team that provides support to staff, including church communication, website and app management, volunteer coordination of volunteers, pastoral support for worship services and ministries, group meetings, and event coordination.
- Work with the staff team to maintain and update our databases, website, social media, and other online content.
- Oversee, in collaboration with the staff and pastoral team) volunteer teams for various ministries and events.
- Ministry-related participation and coordination
- Lead and participate in staff meetings and pastoral meetings. Coordinate any meetings necessary for the excellence and cohesion of the administrative staff team.
- There may be some margin for the involvement and pursuit of ministries following the person's gifting and passions.
- Staff health, management, and conflict resolution
- Provide the church with resources to promote healthy team unity, including robust processes for employee onboarding, mentoring, and successful new team member integration.
- Lead church staff in establishing healthy accountability - provide leadership and support for working through staff challenges and conflicts.
- Manage the church staff (primarily administrative and facility staff with broader support for the entire staff). This includes hiring or dismissing staff as needed and formalizing responsibilities and accountability through proper documentation, including job descriptions, annual reviews, performance plans, etc.
Skills and Qualifications Required Qualifications / Experience
College graduate with a degree in business, finance, HR, operations, or equivalent experience > 3 years' experience managing employees and employee performance with good performance to organizational objectives Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Experience overseeing finance, including knowledge of accounting/financial statements Experience overseeing operations, including facilities Strong computer skills, facility with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel Strong character and Christian integrity - with experience managing confidential and sensitive information and agreement with our code of conduct Detail-oriented and familiar with financial management Strong administrative skills, including the use of cloud-based business / administrative tools Track record of strong commitment to a local church Hired candidate will commit to being a part of the Willow Glen Bible Church community Experience working well and adapting to situations and circumstances as are common in church ministry Preferred Qualifications / Experience:

Strong administrative skills This is a ~32- 40 hour/week position with full benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
