Direct ReportNew River Experience DirectorEmployee Profile and Desired Traits• High level emotional intelligence• Active in team dynamics, conflict prevention/resolution, and identifying customer needs• Cheerful attitude and servant leadership disposition• Dedicated customer service and people oriented• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn and develop hard and soft skills• Ability to interact with men and women of all ages and maturity levels of staff/customersDuties & Responsibilities• Comfortable with 5 days paddling/camping in remote setting without running water/electricity• Welcome guests and conduct a gear shakedown water experience in the New River Gorge• Pack and load food / equipment in trucks and boats• Provide whitewater kayaking instruction • Ensure guest safety and provide medical care as needed• Interpret the natural and cultural history of the New River Gorge• Provide and participate in evening programming• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe working area• Other duties or projects as assigned by SBR leadership• Abide by policies and procedure outlined in the SBR staff handbook Qualifications & Training• 18 years of age or older• Wilderness First Aid & Swiftwater Rescue (training provided)• Confident Swimmer• Position is contingent on ability to pass river guide and swiftwater rescue training. You may be reassigned to other jobs if you do not pass the training courses.• Ability to use Microsoft Teams daily for work related communication and coordination• Be or become a registered member of Scouting AmericaPerformance Results• Provide end of year feedback on ways to improve the program• Receive positive feedback from customers• Improved paddling and teaching skillsPhysical Requirements• Up to 8 hours a day of either, paddling, swimming, hiking, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.• Must be able to climb back in raft from whitewater• Can pass the physical exam and approved for SBR height and weight requirements UniformSummit staff uniformHousing10x12' Platform Tent; various camping sitesExpected Working Hours5-day trek
