WIC Nutrition Aide (Full-Time; Temporary)

Position Summary:The Nutrition Aide provides support to WIC program participants, including assisting with the eligibility determination of new and existing WIC participants.This position is a full-time, temporary position (initial assignment anticipated to end September 2025; potential for extension).Essential Functions of the Job:Client Services: 95%* Collect, screen and document income, address and category information for WIC certification* Input data into WIC MIS* Issue food benefits* Provide appointments and necessary forms to current and potential WIC participants* Educate participants on non-nutritional issues such as program orientation, including the use of food benefits* Document nutrition education attendance* Take participants' height and weight and screen for anemia* Prepare and ensure that participants have all necessary materials for nutrition classes and certifications* Call participants to remind them of their appointment or re-schedule missed appointments* Demonstrate openness to organizational changes* Actively seek out ways to improve processesOther WIC Support Services: 5%* Assist with filing and data storage* Maintain and submit orders for adequate inventory of office supplies* Participate in program linkages, referral, and outreach activitiesAdditional Duties and Responsibilities* Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards* Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops* Attends meetings as required and participates in committees as directed* Performs related duties as assigned or requestedJob RequirementsExperience Required:* 1 year of administrative/clerical experience.Education Required:* High School Diploma or GED EquivalentCertifications/Licenses Required:* Valid California Driver's LicenseVerbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:* Bilingual (Spanish/English) required* Excellent interpersonal skills* Excellent verbal and written communication skillsTechnical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:* Computer proficiency, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.* Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment* Ability to work well with diverse ethnic and cultural backgroundsEquipment Used:* General office Equipment to include Personal Computer, Phones, Fax, etc.Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:* This position is a full-time, temporary position (initial assignment anticipated to end September 2025; potential for extension)* Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking* Noisy clinic environment with young children and infants* May require the ability to move up to 20 lbs. with proper equipment* Schedule will require some Saturdays and evenings; May need to travel and work at other SY Health WIC sites during work hours (reliable transportation required)Universal Requirements:Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs.
