As a WIC Nutritionist at Montefiore Medical Group, you will play a vital role in providing nutrition education, counseling, and support to women, infants, and children in our community. Your expertise will empower clients to make healthier choices and improve overall wellness. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, you will conduct nutritional assessments, develop individualized care plans, and provide guidance on breastfeeding, meal planning, and healthful eating. This position requires a commitment to community health, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
* Provides nutrition information and services to women and children enrolled in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
* Assess nutritional needs and develops nutritional care plans and education for participants.
* Provides breastfeeding support and appropriate follow-up for high-risk participants.
* Clerical functions including verification and documentation of program eligibility requirements and eWIC benefits.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science or Nutrition related
* Certification of WIC in accordance with USDA regulations
THIS IS A 100% GRANT FUNDED POSITION!
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30a-5:00p
Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.
